Johnnie Mayfield Johnnie Mayfield is a Community Advisor for the Leisure Hour Jr. Golf Program (LHJGP), where she oversees fundraising, recruiting, and community outreach. Since joining the program in 1999, Johnnie has devoted countless hours as a volunteer working with the program's staff, families, and community partners to help build partnerships across the Pacific Northwest. For many years Johnnie used her place of business, J. Kurls & Company, as the primary location for fundraising, staff meetings and, workshops for the LHJGP. Johnnie also reached out to social workers with the Department of Human Resources to help introduce and connect foster children to the program. In addition to building partnerships and attending meetings with the Leisure Hour Jr. Golf Program president, Johnnie helps to advise the program's Board to ensure jr. golfers and mentors enjoy a positive and safe experience while learning and enjoying the game of golf. Johnnie has made a huge impact and difference in the lives of our youth and the community she serves.
Shanda Imlay In March 2018, Shanda became the Director of Junior Golf for the Oregon Golf Association. This position is responsible for the continued growth and development of junior programs. That includes; scheduling, planning, producing, budgeting and managing of all aspects of a program that today has 1200 plus junior members playing golf either for fun or competitively. She believes in her goal of maintaining the Mission of Oregon Junior Golf: “…to introduce youth to the game of golf, encourage friendships and a life-long love for the game, provide competition, and facilitate programs serving young golfers of all skill levels. Oregon Junior Golf looks to our core values to help develop our members to become tomorrow’s leaders today. CORE VALUES: Honest, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect Fun and Friendship and Stewardship. Shanda is a Founder and co-owner of FUNdaMental Golf and Learning Center in Oregon City, Oregon. Founded in 2002 it is a Driving Range, complete with Pro Shop, Club Repair, covered hitting bays, short game and putting green open year round. Where we use the latest visual teaching aids and swing analysis software. Shanda has been a PGA Professional for over 30 years, teaching all levels of players including PGA and LPGA professionals, collegiate players and presently is Captain of the Girls Junior Americas Cup for the Oregon OGA. In 2017 Shanda was recognized as the PGA Pacific Northwest Section Player Development Professional. This honors those who have developed unique programs to promote the game of golf. Shanda’s philosophy, “ I believe that everyone, regardless of age or physical ability can learn to play golf. I have developed a ‘three element program” that is easy to understand and effective.” I help the player identify his or her golf skills to play their best based on this analysis, fine tuning the instruction to the person rather than teaching a methodology. My primary goal is to bring FUN into the game of golf.” Some of my programs include: Classes for at risk Juniors, Coaching high school teams, special short game clinics, developing men’s and women’s and couples specific clinics, classes on how to play the game stressing the mental and physical requirements of the game, most recently working with the Salute Military Golf Association a nonprofit dedicated to working with military with special needs. Shanda was recognized as the OGA Golf Professional of the Year 2014 and the Volunteer of the Year 2015. Shanda says “I believe in giving back to the game that has treated me so well” . This has included as being Co-chairperson for the Standard Bearers for the Winco Portland Open for the last four years. In 2017 FUNdaMental Golf was awarded the Web.com Small Business of the Tournament Award.
